One of my very first slalom races was one of the old "Citizen Race" events they used to have on the Nantahala River in western North Carolina. I think this photo is from 1992, at which time I was in my mid-20s, a very advanced age to be entering such a sport. But every time I look at this photo I see myself as a little kid.
