My first race is still almost two weeks away, but other racers in this region have at least one race under their belts. The annual Jungle Boater race took place on the eighth of this month on the Mulberry River in Arkansas. Bill Cains of Altus, Arkansas, was the victor of the solo canoe class, clocking one hour, 3 minutes, 30 seconds over a distance of about 7 miles on Class II-III whitewater.
